An education that opens every door
Programme Overview

An education that opens every door

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) is a challenging and internationally respected programme for students aged 16 to 19, designed to develop academically strong, curious, and compassionate learners. Students study six subject groups while also completing the DP core — Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay (EE), and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) — which encourage independent thinking, research, and personal growth.

At Manchester, the Diploma Programme prepares students not only for university success but also for meaningful global citizenship. With strong academic guidance, personalised mentoring, and a commitment to excellence, our students develop the confidence, resilience, and skills needed to thrive at leading universities and in an ever-changing world.

What sets this programme apart

Why choose the IB Diploma?

The world's most internationally recognised pre-university qualification

Six Subject Groups

Diploma students study across six groups — studies in language and literature, language acquisition, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, and the arts — ensuring intellectual breadth alongside subject depth.

Theory of Knowledge

TOK is a philosophy-of-knowledge course unique to the IB that asks students to examine the nature of what they know and how they know it — developing the critical, reflective thinking that distinguishes IB graduates.

University Recognition

The IB Diploma is recognised by more than 5,000 universities in over 75 countries. Many institutions award course credits or advanced standing to high-scoring IB graduates.

Extended Essay

A 4,000-word independent research essay supervised by a subject specialist mentor. The EE is an internationally recognised component that develops university-level research, writing, and analytical skills.

CAS Programme

Creativity, Activity, and Service experiences that complement the Diploma's academic demands. CAS develops well-rounded, community-minded individuals who engage meaningfully beyond the classroom.

Dedicated University Guidance

Our IBDP coordinator and university counsellor work one-on-one with every student from Year 11 — supporting subject selection, personal statement writing, and applications to universities worldwide.
